Scientific and Theoretical Knowledge

Physical education teacher candidates know and apply discipline-specific scientific and theoretical concepts critical to the development of physically educated individuals.

Artifact: Heart Rate Monitor Project

Date: Spring 2016

Reflection: During this project, each student taught an activity lesson to the class. During the activity, each student was able to take their heart rate and steps they take during the activity by measuring their heart beats with index and middle finger, and count steps with a pedometer. The purpose of this project was to see if measuring our heart with our index and middle finger and steps with pedometer is an accurate measurement. Which I found to be inaccurate after doing this project. This artifact helps demonstrate standard one, because after learning that measuring our heart rate with index and middle finger is inaccurate, I will be able to find more accurate way to measure my students heart rate and steps they take during an activity so they are able to understand how being physical activity can increase their heart rate and prevent some disease that is do to not exercising.
